San Mateo has a lot of various restaurants. We have Indian cuisine to Japanese food. If you go to downtown there are plenty of restaurants and bars you can enjoy. I suggest you go during the night because there's more parking space and it's much more beautiful.

Cha Cha Cha Cuba is my favorite place there. I love the shrimp plate!

Osteria Coppa was the scene of our feast on 8.31.13. I posted a picture of the "capper" pasta they served, with truffle shaved at our table. WONDERFUL! You cannot find a bad restaurant in San Mateo. Diana

Yes, there are amazing eateries. Yes, there's an excelent selection of diverse cuisines. Yes, there are food trucks and cafe's and Michelin rated options, but the reviews would not be complete without mentioning the great food markets in San Mateo. Draeger's stocks a variety of hard to find, specialty foods and you MUST visit their bakery. The Saturday Farmers Market at College of San Mateo is truely a food playground and we are so fortunate to live in a place where fresh, local foods are easy to come by. Plus, you'll certainly get hungry while you're shopping and dreaming up all your meals for the week so thank goodness for the variety of food trucks serving up yummies to munch on while you shop.
